Logitech releases Z-5500 replacements

They look great, and I love Logitech's stuff. Never have a problem with any of their products. And I own quite a few!

Very nice. Bought my Z5500 second hand from a friend and using them for my home theatre. They still put out some serious sound. Don't know if I would trade up (or is it down in this case?). I could have used the extra optical input on the new units though.

I'm glad I picked up a pair of these z 5500 at IC when they had that 50% off, yip R2.1k for them brand new..

I'll be sticking with my Z5500, don't like the look of the new 1's. Whether there is an actually improvement on sound quality who knows but the Z5500 are great already so I'm sure I'll survive :p Most I could gain from upgrading is an extra optical port...<sarcasm> great job Logitech </sarcasm>

Bump* is it possible to drive the Z5500 with the standard realtek 8 channel sound card?

you can play them off a Blackberry if you wanted :P

You okes are newschool ;) im still rocking my Z680's ( the Z5500's replaced these - Basically a facelift ) 10 years now, and still can make my whole room shake :) they seem to downgrade quality each "facelift" i mean the Z680's had metal drivers etc.

+1 Z680's here too. 8+ years on and still sounding great. Why change?

From Logitech's perspective: Profit. Each new range is a diluted version of the ones they replaced using cheaper parts. At least in the Z ranges. :(
