Hi guys,

I have a set of Logitech Speakers. When I moved in Septemeber I managed to loose one of the cables and now I can't find a replcement. I'm hoping someone here can assist.

Basically it is the cable that connect the soundcard to the subwoofer. On the soundcard side it has 1 x earphone jack then it splits going to the subwoofer. On the subwoofer side it has 2 x earphone jacks (1x for front speaker and 1x for rear speakers). It is not the normal 1 x earphone jack split into 2 x AV jacks cable.

At the moment only the front speaker work as I have a 1 to 1 earphone jack cable in there.

Any idea where I could look for this cable? I tried all the usual suspects (Incredible Corruption, local PC store, Game etc)

Thanks.

Why don't you make one up yourself, it's not that difficult. Just pop into the local electronics store, such as Communica or the like, buy the necessary connectors and cable, and assemble it. They may even offer to do it for you.

You make it sound so simple, maybe I should try it. However can't find a Communica nearby, any ideas of places in Joburg East Rand I could try?

I am not in the area so couldn't point you to a nearby electronics shop you specifically. Communica is in Pretoria. Didn't mean to over simplify , however if you can find a soldering iron and someone with basic and basic soldering skills to assist then it's a doddle.

Yeah, don't have any soldering experience. Maybe somebody at one of these types of shops would be able to do it. I look around a bit.

Sounds like an idea Ponder, only problem I can think of is that it wont be front and back split any more. I'm not sure how the signal gets split. Maybe I should try it and see what happens.

That would be true if you are using a TS to TS cable, if you use a TRS to 2x TS cable its splits to left (or front centre) and right (or rear centre). A TRRS cable splits into front centre (or left), rear centre (or right) and subwoofer (or mic).

So:
TS (Tip Sleeve) = Ground and Mono Signal
TRS (Tip Ring Sleeve) =Ground and Two Signals
TRRS (Tip Ring Ring Sleeve) = Ground and Three Signals

Where you able to hear left and right sounds with the old cable using the one cable as front and rear?

Also give Zakspeed a try. They have a shop in Woodmead. Brilliant service. They should be able to make just about any cable you need :)

Ah guys, you are gonna both be my heroes if I get this sorted.

At the moment I get sound from Left Front and Right Front, but none from Left Rear and Right Rear, so if I understand this correctly I need a TRS cable then.

Yes, I was able to hear right and left using the old cable. I ran the application with hte ball going around the man's head and all 4 speakers would play at the right time (ie if ball was in front, both lef and rigth front would play. And if ball was at 2 o'clock (right front), only right front speaker would play)

Hmmm, then I think you had a custom cable, you will not be able to hear the sound travel to each speaker, rather to front, front, back back instead of front left, front right, rear right, rear left :( Do you know the model of your speaker system?

No, unfortunately not. But I guess I could google it a bit and see if I could find it. Why do you ask? Do you think I'd be ab;e to order the cable somewhere?

I phoned Zakspeed and they recon they could make a cable, but I'm still concerned about whether it would do what it has to do.

I was thinking that you can find the type of cable on the net somewhere and know what to look for. If Zackspeed makes up the a TRS to 2x TS then I don't hink you will have left / right capability...

Yeah, I'm going to google it a bit when I get home tonight. But I've thrown out the box a while back, so I'm not really sure where to start.

:( goold luck with that - take a look at the logitech website, maybe you can see them there, if your speakers aren't too old!

Hi Chris,

I got home last night and checked. They are Creative Inspire speakers :o

After realising what a mission this was going to be I decided to turn the house upside down. Found the cable in an old shoebox in the top shelf of the study cupboard :D Woot!

Turns out I remembered the cable incorrectly. It is in fact two seperate 1 to 1 phonejack cables. They obviously just shrunk them together. It is TRRS cables. So 2 jacks in back of PC and two jacks in Subwoofer to get LF + RF and LR + RR.

Thanks for you assistance. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.
