Problems with the unit.
1. The center speaker stand is broken.

2. The other bigger issue is that unit comes on fine, you start playing anything through it and it sounds fine, sub and all speakers work. After some time (sometimes seconds, sometimes a few minutes), it makes a loud popping sound and then you can't hear any audio. You need to unplug it for a few minutes and plug it in again then the sound comes back and repeats the above.

Poor connections.
Review each and every speaker connector, resolder if needed and wash the potentiometer with Servisol.

Interesting. I’d heard there was a Z-5500 with hard wired speakers with RCA speaker connections but never seen one. This seems like that version based
on the center speakers rear?

I didn't know there was a version with hard wired speakers. I still have mine, not the same version apparently.
Amazing system

Did some googling and it seems the version with RCA connectors on the subwoofer for the satellite speakers may be the earlier version prior to them using speaker wire with the Red/Black Push Spring Clip terminals.
