Hi Guys...

So i have the Logitech z5500 speakers. There are SO many different options to configure them, on the control unit, and on my PC that im totally clueless on how to set them to get the best sound.

Im using the standard onboard 'Intel Audio studio' sound, and i suppose its not that bad. Ive got the speakers set to 6 channel mode for everday use. (music and movies ect)

Im looking maybe to invest in a sound card, if it really makes that much of a difference, or maybe just get a optical cable, really dunno whats my best option?

Could you guys maybe give me some advice? also if some of you have the same speakers, on what setting do you use them?

Thanks!

i got an X-Fi which is pretty c00, but yeah don't know how much better is it than on board, using the optical will only make 2.1 not 5.1 available.

I normally keep them on 6 channel direct, never really used the stereo or stereox2, I find that the PL settings make the centre speaker sound a lil louder. I have an optical cable as well but that sounds pretty much exactly the same and in most cases it gives you all the same options as the Analog connectors. Although with the optical if a dvd has DTS or Dolby Digital it picks that up and that always sounds good :)

I think optical would be good. Lots of motherboards have optical headers so them you just need to somehow buy a little bracket that plugs into the header so you can plug your speakers into that. Then you'll get all the Dolby stuff on that Logitech controller. Btw i'm semi looking for a Z-5500 set if anyone's looking to sell. PM me if anyone has an offer.
