Are there any options for this? It is my husband's firearm and he is in the UK. I will be joining him in due course. I feel he should sell the loathsome thing. I am not "licensed to carry" so can I sell it on his behalf? Can I have it stored on his behalf? Can a friend or family member hold it? I can barely bring myself to look at it, let alone touch it. Any advice on what I should do with it would be appreciated.

It needs to be locked in the safe of which only the licensed holder has the key, or it needs to be carried by the licensed holder.

If you take it to the shop for storage and you are stopped on the way then you will land in trouble.

Give your local SAPS a call. My dad stores his at the police station - though I'm not sure if he receives some special treatment since he was linked to SAPS during his working life.

What ever you do dont transport that firearm. If you plan on selling or storing it, let a dealer fetch it from your house. You may not even have access to the keys of the safe where it is currently stored in.

Even if I could do this, I wouldn't. Too many things go missing from police stations. Rather just book it in and pay for storage at a firearms dealer.
