Taking the long drive to CT (from JHB) during the long weekend. Taking the N1 will try to do it in one strectch but if i cant any ideas of stop maybe sleep over towns on the way.

Just make sure there's no road closures because of the weather. I normally stop at the ultra cities. Bloem, Colesburg,3 Sister, Lainsburg etc. I normally take a 2 hour nap at 3 sisters, in the car, no need to sleep over. Just take a blanket with in the car.

Driving down to CT for a weekend is like paying a hooker for a hug.

You should be able to do it in 12 to 13 hours taking into account you have three stops for refueling (Kroonstand, Colesburg, Beaufort West). There is a Formula1 hotel in Beaufort West so if its too dark or you are too tired you might want to stop over there.

Never mind the F1 stay at the Wagon Wheel Lodge in Beaufort West. Nice and cosy and clean and reasonable rates. I drove to Cape Town from Durban. I did it once and I will never do it again if I can help it haha.

Very long drive, I wouldn't do it unless it was a proper holiday, i.e. couple of days down, couple days up. Why not fly? I've done Johannesburg - Lubumbashi, DRC once in pretty much one stretch. That was ridiculous.

The dude wants to drive down let him. He didnt ask whether he should drive or fly he asked for hotels. What level of accomodation you have in mind?
