90% of the time my iPad is home on wireless - but I'd like a prepaid with airtime on it incase I'm caught without.

What's the longest prepaid roll over out?

Cell C has a 3 GByte data bundle for R400 that lasts 365 days.
MTN and Voda's bundles are (up to) 60 days.
If you just want to surf OOB then for MTN make a call on the sim every 90 days, for Voda, make a call every 7 months to ensure the sim is not cut off.

I think Cell C is currently the only one with a bundle which last up to a year. I might get it myself one day if the need arises.
