Looking at converting a garage into a pad

I want to convert our garage into a bachelor pad with a loft. I just want to toy around with some ideas (plans). Any free, easy to use software out there I can mess around with?

Try Sketchup. Very easy to work with. You can also send me the plans and sketches what you had in mind and I can draw it for you when I get a gap.
 
In the olden days a building for living in had to have double exterior walls, but garages didn't have this requirement. It was a municipal requirement, at least in Cape Town. Does that still apply? Or do they get around it in some (legal) way?
 
I should probably go through the tutorial first. I built a block in the last half an hour. To scale but still a block.

I live on the beach in Mozambique. We do what the hell we like here mostly by the look of things...
The garage does have double exterior walls as it was originally used as a flat and converted to a garage + store room and I want to convert it back to an apartment with a loft...

Hahaha. Funnily enough I am busy setting up some of the Villas in the area as vacation rentals online. Man these guys charge a pretty penny to rent out their holiday homes here. It's cool for them as they only really use them out of season where as I am here all year.

Yeah nice way to make some commission on it too.
Funny story, my wife(Piglit) was telling me about this Datura guy that she plays CR in a clan with... she says hi by the way.

Yeah I use sketchup for drawing models of woodwork projects, it takes a while to get used to. Its caused me a lot of swearing in the past.

lol yeah she told me about that and I had to question whether she was who she claimed to be. We have long referred to kids and human worm babies and she has almost punched me for singing the doom song for waaaaaay too long.
