Hi all

I'm looking to buy a 24" IPS LED screen.

I also really need it to be height adjustable.

If it's not height adjustable, I can always get a monitor stand/bracket

Reason? I'm upgrading soon, I have 1 23" and I would like to get 2 24" panels to replace my shoddy 2333sw sammy LCD monitor

I have the u2412m as well and its a beaut! Looking for a 2nd one :)

I have the Dell UltraSharp U2410, while a co worker recently got the U2412M and I can't put my finger on it, but everything just looks better on my much older U2410

This was actually noted when the initial replacement line came out for the U2410...

u2410 is 8 bit and was a lot more expensive..
u2412m is 6 bit like all other < R5k IPS.

explain this? does this mean each pixel has 6bits to encode colour?

8 bit is 16.7 million colours. 6 bit is 262,000 colours. But don't worry about that too much, the U2412 does produce 16.7 million colours using frame rate control.

The U2412M has a great response time, which would suit your needs for gaming especially, and videos. I think that this was the purpose of this monitor when Dell released it. The U2410 might look horrible in that scenario compared to the U2412 as an example.

The U2412 is well priced, is not too impossible to find, and is LED, which is what you asked for and is better suited to your requirements if comparing to the U2410. Also take into account that the U2412 has the aspect ratio of 16:10. Perfect when gaming and for software development (sorry, my error). Not to mention for music development, due to the extra vertical height. Movies won't do too badly either.

PostmanPot and Roman4604 would be able to give you far better advice than I could though. But I will stick to my original recommendation of the U2412M.

Another alternative I would recommend, is the LG IPS235V. Solid monitor.
