Looking for 4U storage chassis for NAS build

Hi Guys,

Hope this is the right section to post this in. I'm looking for a 4U chassis for a custom NAS build. Preferably something with hotswap bays that can support a minimum of x12 3.5" drives. I've googled for hours but cannot seem to find anything local or at a reasonable price through import.

Anybody know of a place?

i would say go through pinnacle and get a supermicro chassis.. they do dual redundant power supplies with 16x 3.5" hot swap bays in 3u's which is still full height for add on cards.. any particular reason you looking for 4u exactly..?

Just got off the phone with them myself re. this. They could not supply me with a SM chassis as you described, unless with a MB included as they sell them as kits now. Same with Dell.

Thanks guys, appreciate the effort.

It doesn't have to be 4u, but will have to be rackmountable. The Supermicro's are awesome but waaaaaay out of my price range. That's why I'm going to custom build. Can't believe it's so hard to find a chassis.
 
Why don't you put what you are looking for in the thread title so that people who might have what you are looking for can see what the thread is about?

you are not wrong.. i forgot to mention that its not.. but OP did say its preferable and considering that the preferable options available locally are out of OP's price range, this type of chassis is the next best thing..
 
maybe look for a suitable option in the overseas and drop ScottulusMaximus a pm.. he says he is able to get better shipping rates to sa and its also via courier and not sapo..

an ex colleague brought this in at R 6500 grand a few years ago.. didnt pay import tax after he asked the seller to specify to right item code on the package to avoid import tax..
