Looking for a corporate AV solution

Can your upload bandwidth handle all those clients updating?

Hoping so! I have a fairly large link to my ISP (for the amount of people on the network), but will check with the ISP how the link is configured.

Then, has anyone worked with Symantec Endpoint Protection lately? Good or bad?

I appreciate everything under the Symantec umbrella, except the AV solutions. In terms with our experience when it comes to deployments, Trend and Symantec tend to have compatibility issues with other applications, mostly in line with ERP systems or other outdated apps. In all honesty, we have never used or tested the Symantec endpoint editions, Norton made us walk away years ago.

Mmm...I would've thought Symantec is one of the better solutions available. On that note, how do you find Norton? Ease of deployment, management, options w.r.t. remote clients?

Everything mentioned with ease, but we have not done a corporate deployment since 2008 with Norton, no personal opinion on the latest version.

You should remember that everyone will back their AV of choice which they use on a regular basis, when it comes down to your own selection, do a trial in a lab environment.

ESET is thoroughly backed in SA, so is Kaspersky.

Sophos (cloud) we only really recommend to “certain” industries and LBE environments. Panda Cloud Protection is our main deployment within the SOHO -> SME sector and Total Defense is our MSP choice. The mentioned AV’s are tested daily in a lab environment. We however have an agreement to bundle ESET with new pc sales as an option to the customer.

Total Defense also claims, according to their marketing, that they have the first cloud AV which is perimeter ready… I however do not support this claim due to devices still moving outside the environment (e.g. remote users), ask any Fortinet or Smoothwall specialist, but they do have comprehensive web and mail filtering in the cloud.

Panda however have moved forward, they have bundled their cloud package with a white labelled CentraStage should you want an integrated RMM system, we however use another more sophisticated system. Do note that Panda sucks when it comes to web filtering, very much limited in this aspect.
