Hi guys. I use a Nokia N9 16GB which is starting to show it's age ie dropping signal, battery dying quickly, etc. Well, today I made the mistake of going into a cellphone shop. Phones are HUGE these days, never felt so under-endowed before. I reckon you could murder someone with one, dig a grave and still use the damn thing as a headstone. Am hoping someone can point me towards a phone that will be a suitable replacement for my N9. Don't care about pixel counts and cameras. I read a ebooks, browse fark and 4chan a lot, while listening to the radio or music, so battery life is important to me. Must be able to play Temple Run 2. Am a farmer so it should be able to stand up to the occasional kick from a calf, spilt milk and cluttered pockets. Thanking you all in advance.

I agree on the z1 compact if you're looking for a top of the line 4" phone. However I don't think any of these phones are going to be appreciated being kicked around. Just choose a decent case and it should give you the durability you need. There are rugged phones out there if you want though.

Best phone for you would be the Xperia V.

It's 4.3", so a little bigger than what you asked, BUT it is water proof and durable. Got some friends that have it because they work with horses and stables all day.

Get a lifeproof case for the iPhone ;)

Why doesnt everyone stop trying to shove a 8 - 10 thousand rand piece of yuppie status down the poor farmers throat, adding even more to the price with an expensive cover and give the guy what he asked for....

Hey who said the farmer is poor :p (The Xperia Z1 Compact wont be any cheaper. for cheaper, look at the V.)

But yeah I would assume he was looking for an android phone because he posted in the android section...

Nowhere in the post is there a price range or any sort of indication that he wants a phone at a lower price point. He asked for a recommendation, I recommended something. If he doesn't like it or feels its too expensive, move on.

Hey guys thanks for the words. My budget is R400 a month. I saw MTN had an iphone 5 64gb for that much. Only problem iphone has no fm radio. Even though the windows phones are more up to date than my N9, I find them too irritating to work on. Was gravitating towards the Z10 but the "no-BIS" thing is a bummer. I've heard the UI is almost the same as my N9.

Wish someone could import the jolla phone into SA or Jolla would hurry up with their sailfish port to the N9.

Trust me. Xperia V. Go look at it. Perfect phone for you.
