Hi guys please can you recommend a gaming headset, my budget is R1200 to R1500

Go read the OP of this thread as it answers your question:

General consensus on the internet is to rather get a decent set of headphones with a seperate mic. Also a pair of headsets not recommended in the above thread but is getting good feedback from reviewers and users a like is the Kingston HyperX Cloud's. Cheapest I could find in SA is on Raru:

Also Comx:

Also mentioned in the link above as recommended by mygamings hardware go to guy is the Razer Tiamat 2.2.

How reliable are Raru.co.za ? Was planning on purchasing now but haven't used them before and 10-15 days delivery where the hell are they situated.

I've used them plenty of times. They are local, iirc run by some of the guys who started Take2 (which is now Takealot). The time frame does seem a little long, but when I checked Kalahari, they listed 9 working days, so I guess the supplier needs to bring them in.

They do take a bit longer, but I have found them (on average) to be about 300+ rand cheaper than LandmarkPC (and that says alot)

Correct. Used them a couple times as well. Prefer using them now that takealot has merged with Kalahari.

I got the PS4 Gold (http://www.playstation.com/en-us/explore/accessories/audio/gold-wireless-stereo-headset/) - I just can't stand headsets which make you look like a pilot (or a call-centre agent). Playing Destiny on PS4 lately and with the Destiny sound profile uploaded and VSS on you can actually hear enemies running up behind you or identify the origin of a sniper shot.

I do like the function of where you can lower game sound volume and increase chat sound volume and battery life rocks (about 8 hours). I managed to pick one up at CNA for R699 (but I found out later that it must have been a labelling issue as those go for around 1K).

CNA has ps3 TurtleBeach headsets for R699. You would have to phone around the branches in your area to see if they have stock.

I personally think buying a decent set of headphones and a separate mic are a better option.
I have a set of Beyerdynamic DT990 with an Antlion Modmic.
HQ all the way.
