So, it has been quite a while since I had to do this. So when I signed up with crystal web when they just started out here on the forum, I never migrated my line, and it stayed with telkom all this time. Guess I just got used to it. Seems I dodged a bullet there.

To shorten a long tale, I cancelled with them, and moved back to a capped afrihost account that I have kept as a backup. After re-visiting the terms of my capped package, I noticed that they actually charge you more to have an unshaped capped account(I never remember any company having shaping on capped accounts....ever). Regardless of that, I am not very happy with the performance at the moment, and would like to find an alternative.

I have seen some threads that show a lot of love for vox, and the odd, "never go with vox". So simply put, my question is, should I give vox a try, or should I consider another?

I would consider uncapped, but honestly having an, unshaped capped account makes more sense for me at the moment. Some months I use more than others.

I have no fibre in my area, and it does not seem that I will any time soon. I also have rain lte-a running alongside the ADSL.

Vox is decent, but their customer service needs a lot of work. WebAfrica, ironically, might also be a good fit for a capped account, and I think they might be routing over SACS by now. You may also find that Axxess is a better alternative than Afrihost, even if they're using the same bandwidth. They manage their network differently.

I've personally had good experiences with Telkom Internet. I do have issues with their service like slow loading times from sites like gfycat, and Reddit video never loads quickly. For everything else I do it's pretty OK.

Thanks. I might take another look at webafrica. I used to use axxess years ago, when they just started out and we still thought 30gb was a decent amount of cap for the price, and was always happy with them, but given that they are now under the afrihost umbrella I did not really consider them.

With regards to Telkom internet, my only concern is the support I will receive from them if I need it.

I was never with Telkom Internet, unless you are directing your question to @CataclysmZA ?
I was asking you. You should try their SmartHome Uncapped deal for R599.. Take it month to month. I dropped my capped account for the deal last November and it's never had any shaping.

It sounds promising, but how long does it take you to reach them for support, and if they do, does it extend beyond "reboot your modem"?

I Cancelled my TI account.
Constant packet loss and Intermittent service, for well over 2 months in KZN.
No sure if this is ongoing though.
Support blamed everything under the sun except for my aircon.

Aircon too close to router, causing condensation to build up on your wires, making the internet slow?

Jokes aside, thank you for the input. It seems that everyone has had different experiences with pretty much every ISP.
