Looking for a new kettle (and maybe toaster)

I to went through expensive kettles, ended up on a cheap Ecco from takealot, it's also only 1300w so it's eco as well.
Before that my old Dixon I got to cash crusaders was used for 5 years not an issue was like 99 bucks
 
Haden, they boil 50% faster with their 3000W kettles vs the typical 2000W of other brands. Yes I’m the impatient type.
 
Get the cheapies. If you have a R2k budget, that can buy you ten cheapies that will give you ten years. No need to concentrate all the risk in one expensive kettle when you can spread it across ten cheapies.
 
Bosch makes some really good apppliances, although a bit pricey, stay away from Russel Hobbs. I've been using a Bosch TWK8611P for about 7/8 years now without any issues.

Yeah I mean the 1 minute longer it takes to boil its such a time waster.
 
How often do you boil your kettle daily?

We have a bean to cup coffee machine so rarely boil the kettle. Decided to switch to gas stove top kettle about two years back.

Yes less efficient as electricity but if anything we only boil the kettle once a day. Our 19kg gas cylunder is probably 10 months old.

Basically nothing to go wrong in the stove top kettle. Also stops you just walking past flicking a switch and then actually forgetting to make something.

It's not a mini, it's a proper size kettle just runs nicely on my inverter, so during the day it's free

Ja our gas stove top one only gets pulled out now and then, we use the electric one 98% of the time.

So we've got a Morphy Richards kettle and toaster combo, I've got no idea what we paid (google suggests they're pricey) but they've lasted 7 years and still going.
What I will say is, the kettle has recently started peeling slightly, like around the lid section. And while I've got no real point of reference it seems noisy, like all sorts of pops and crackles. Gets used a ton though - work from home and a helper and it gets used 6, 7 times a day. So yeah, maybe the best looking cheapest you can find.
