looking for a new pc shop...

I had a recent insurance payout - and need to replace a few many IT things.


I have been quite shocked at the appalling service provided to me by 2 of the better known PC Stores.


The first made me beg them to give me a quote, and reluctantly agreed to do so after many back and forth calls.


The latter ignored my request to spec specific items and replaced them with cheaper no name brand items.


Is there still a single reliable good online PC shop?

or www.takealot.com also great service and prices and lately keep most of the products in stock - done 109 orders since 2005 and never had a problem with their service.

If you're around Joburg CBD then PCLinkshop is not bad at all for getting your order very quickly processed but whatever you do decide, it was recommended by someone else on the forum to stay away from FHG Technologies.

The only 3 online stores I currently buy my computer related items from. I only do Takealot when it works out cheaper (due to the shipping included in items above R250), however their variety isn't that great.

The shop I got the crappy service from was Rebeltech. I had to beg and plead to try and place an order with them.

Wootware were the exact opposite. Quoting, advising and processing everything very quickly.

Biggest PC order I've ever placed, one would think a query or two on a R66k order would not be a problem.

I recently bought a case from takealot and paid by eft, a few days later get an e-mail stating that the order has been cancelled apparently someone else bought the case (last one) from under me while the eft was clearing. Just something I thought i'd share as I did not know this was possible, learnt my lesson and only use the credit card now.

It has happened to me when paying with credit card too, I had to wait an extra 4 weeks for my whole order
