So much to my dismay my MTN 3g Uncapped package is coming to an end soon. Telkom do not want to install any ADSL lines in my area the usual cable theft story. I wanted to see if anyone knows of any Wisps with coverage in my area my house is perhaps 2km's from the intersection in the topic header.

I also wanted to ask what speed I would need to allow 2 of us to game on the connection (mostly Dota2 so not intense demands in my mind).

Any help would be appreciated.

i already looked at that thread. Wilgeheuwel and Clearwater are not exactly close which is why i posted a seperate thread..... Think Wilgeheuwel is like 10km's from home. Not sure at what distance these things become a problem?

Check the coverage maps of the Wisps on the thread im 99% sure you covered.

Problem with Wireless though bloody expensive - you can try Iburst but they degraded over the last few months.
The guy from Bitco was offering free trials maybe contact him if you want to test - their prices though were a bit high.
Amobia your in there coverage - the prices on their website are apparently out of date its cheaper and faster than they have the site.
You were on MTN consider getting Afrihost 3G?
As for Telkom they gave me stories too but then magically installed this week

:wtf: Afrihost uncapped 3G? Does such a creature exist and if so at what price??? Will follow up with Amobia and have already pmd Bitco to see about trials etc. thanks for the help so far. My problem with coverage is that I seem to fall on the edge of a lot of what companies do cover..... Which means I "might" get service and I don't want to work on "mights". Thats the story I got from Neotel when I asked and then they never pitched when I asked them to come test signal.

And Amobia just called me back to tell me I am not in their coverage area.... No high spots and a seeming lack of interest in making any kind of plan. Any other ideas?

BitCo are busy offering a trial at the moment and we have excellent coverage in Roodepoort.

1Mb Uncapped - R 559 per month
2Mb Uncapped - R 662 per month
5Mb Uncapped - R 855 per month

We will provide the first month free and include a free wifi router.

These prices may change in the future but we are busy gauging market response and user feedback.
