Does anyone know where I can get a ADSL Central Splitter Module. It's basically a heavy duty ADSL splitter that gets installed where the telephone line enters your house.

The problem I'm having is that even with all the splitters and filters on all my phones, my ADSL can't sync as more than 612kbps on my 4Mbit line.

I noticed that if I remove all the phones as well as the alarm from the line, and connect my router directly to the telephone line, then I get around 4000kbps. With the phones connected I get about 3500kbps, and with the alarm plugged in I get about 600kbps.

So I wanna connect a central splitter to the line when it enters my house and completely split the phone and ADSL lines.

What I'm looking for is something like these:

Would say the alarm is causing a problem, have your security company sort it out.

Then what do I do about the 3500kbps problem caused by the phones? It may look like it's only chowing 500kbps, but it may actually be chowing much more, which I will notice if I get upgraded to 10Mbit.

I'd suggest that you also post your line attenuation + SNR margin values that your ADSL router is reporting when your telephones+alarm is plugged out, before even considering an upgrade to 10Mbps !

Why not use that simple splitter + filter combo that you get at Telkom shops, which splits and filters both the ADSL & Telephone devices. Then you just add normal splitters (without filters) to connect the other telephone devices (alarm + telephones).

Well, I thought you line gets upgraded automatically, and the exchange just drops your line sync speed until the connection is stable. Isn't that the case?

Yeah, maybe I should try using a normal splitter first, but I'm sure there's a reason telephone service providers around the world use heavy duty ones in the NID's. I guess I'll do a little more research, unless one of you guys know what those heavy duty splitters are all about. I'll also have to pull the cheapo splitter apart to connect the wires.

Its because of all the connections over the place that its causing "noise" on the line. Alot of the security companies has started going with a "premicell" like solution and doesnt use you local land line. Thats one thing to look into. Check what phones could be causing the signal loss. If its a cr@ppy phone or it has a low Quality POTS filter (I personaly would go buy a high Q one and not use Telkoms nonsens) on it could also be the problem. Its also depended on the quality of the wiring in your home. If your loop in your house is really old cabling and perhaps damaged at places it could be it. I would bet most of it is the pots filter and the phone itself.
