Someone posted a link to them a while ago but can't find it.

Searching for VIP says the word VIP is too short to be searched for, so that isn't helping.

They have an uncapped account throttled to 256kbps as far as I remember.

If anyone knows who I'm talking about, please let me know.

So if it's local only IS, that means using this VIP service would make all your usage essentially satelite? I don;t quite understand how it works, but it seems like their service "converts" local only into international?

I think all local accounts work off local fixed-line networks and not satellite.

What I understand about this service, is that you'll use your local ADSL account to connect to the company which in tern gives you international access through their service.

so they say its uncapped. How will it continue to work once your local account is capped?

I started using this service in January, when I heard about them through word of mouth - seems they have grown somewhat.

I use the 256Kbps VPN option, mainly to get International Bandwidth for Battlefield 2 authentication, but everything i use int. for has been working perfectly for 3 months now. Hell even uTorrent works perfectly...

There is no satellite bandwidth, according to the website, they use excess capacity from fibre VOIP links to route traffic ?!?!?

My pings confirm that, only add on about 10-20 ms to Int servers.

Yes, thank you. They say R130 for 30gb local, Axxess has 30gb local for R300, I think it's dated in that regard.

Who has the lowest local only accounts?

What I mean is that you can only get 30gb local if it's an IS account (sat.)

So, with this service your running int. over a local connection to their system yes? So wouldn't the fact that your connected to them through a sat. account have an effect?

Only IS international non-fibre traffic goes via satellite... If you buy a 1 gig 'satellite' account and you only browse local sites, none of your traffic goes near a satellite.

I use a 30Gb account from Openweb, and my pings locally look like they are over fiber:

Pinging mybroadband.co.za [196.7.147.188] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 196.7.147.188: bytes=32 time=41ms TTL=54
Reply from 196.7.147.188: bytes=32 time=43ms TTL=54
Reply from 196.7.147.188: bytes=32 time=49ms TTL=54
Reply from 196.7.147.188: bytes=32 time=54ms TTL=54

If I do speed tests at the VIP-Access website, I then get 251Kbps, at Openweb site speed test I Get 249.6 Kbps

Thanks

.ok they using openvpn . they have either diginet lines come into there place. or their server is hosted in some1 dc...

so connect to their service, will be via local network. eg.saix/is/verzion blah blah blah
thats y they say u must already have a local only account ready 2 use for this service.
..

so your openvpn client can auth to the server and reg, the routing tables. on the. and then the rest is history...

Its cheap but still not usable for the average broadband user. I mean you will still need to have a uncapped local account to use this service.

Take mweb account then. R145 pm + R469 @ 256kbs = R614 for uncapped unshapped bandwidth @ 256kbs not bad but still a bit pricey for me. And a bit too slow. But if you are a downloader only and download 24/7 its not a bad offer. But if MWEB stops uncapped local. Your screwed! :-)

Had a look at the website - they do 256,512, 1024,2048,3072,4096 Kbps - coupled with that Mweb R145 account it looks good - considering its unshaped...

Do you have a link for that Mweb R145 account ? Would love to give it a try ?
