Right, so I've got a budget of around r1,500 - now apart from the IPod, do you have any recommendations for any other MP3 player that's available in South Africa? Where can it be found if so?

One caveat is that it has to be Windows Media DRM compatible - I listen to a lot of messages that are DRM encrypted.

the Zune? Not sure what the deal is with it, but I hear it was competing against the iPod at one point. You could always go for the "blaxx" model made by iBeat, although it is clearly a rip off of the iPod, and do you really want an mp3 player called an "iBeat blaxx"?

I shiit you not. Google it.

take a look at aigo they hav some cool stuff i have one of their mp3 players and it works well.

Who are these messages from? . . . . and why do they come complete with DRM?

Yip, that really looked like an awesome little thing when myadsl had a competition for it ;)

I have one, the 8GB :p Bought it in Singapore last year... I plan on selling it purely because it won't interface with my car, thats the one thing I hate about all the other MP3 players, they don't work with the head units in cars :( So now I have to get an iPod.... :(

Try and find a new Creative Zen. The audio quality on those things rock. They can also play DivX and Xvid movies.

Well, if you want to sell, why don't you make a price to Cerebus? Are you asking more than 1.5k?

Bevonk and ettienek, do you know anywhere in this country to get the Creative Zen? I love Creative players as well and the new Zen looks great.

Xrapidx....perhaps we could cut a deal. An 8 gb player would be great. how is the battery life?

Not sure.... it seems to last for ages, nice thing about the Sandisk is the battery is user-replaceable.... The site says up to 20 hours....

It plays movies (pointless), and has an FM radio, which is quite nice. Ijust bought the arm-holder thingy, haven't used it yet....its also in one of those silicone covers with a film over the screen, so it should look new underneath.

I think Sahara stock Creative...

xrapidx, does it have rechargeable batteries, or do you have to buy your own?

A Lithium Ion recharable one, it charges over USB.... but should it eventually die one day, you can replace it yourself.... unlike iPods.

Good choice! An 8 GB video/MP3 player (with SD card slot for even more GB's) going for R1500 is hard to beat.

Yeah that's definitely a bargain and it's a really slick player. Plus it's fully DRM compatible so I can receive my messages. Watch out North Korea!

The only downside is that its battery is integrated  Why couldn't they have used a removable battery cover like all their other devices!
