I am looking for an application that monitors my PC when I install stuff. It should capture all files and registry entries so that I can just move these files and entries to another PC and the application will be installed.

Anyone know of such an app?

Nothing that i know of, you would need to reinstall the apps everytime you reinstall or change OS's. There are programs that monitor programs installed, but nothing for reg edits.

There are apps to do it - I think Sysinternals have some (regmon and filemon, I think). The sheer number of registry and file writes make it quite impractical to actually figure out what's going on though.

regmon will only tell you changes made, and its upto you to copy all the reg files across. Take... lets see, your nvidia driver it has +_136 000 reg entries. That means to copy the driver from one PC to another you need to make copies of +_136 000 reg entries. It would be easier to reinstall :P

Well those 136000 rege ntries are mostly in one folder so you could copy a whole folder, but there would be random scattered stuff for all apps as well, uninstall paths etc..

Basically you can do this with a server PC alot easier, where it installs apps on all network PC's, no ttotally shure how this works though. and you'll need Windows server in anycase. Rather just install apps twice, its not that hard, how many PC's do you want to configure? oKay right it looks like only 1 from your post... so whats the problem, you cant be installing too many vital apps, just do it manually, I doubt if a app exists to do exactly what you want.

Well the opposite of your method is infact alot easier, you can get many apps which are migration tools and the ycan be set up to only nove certain programs etc.
Now with one of these you can simlpy choose a prgram that you have installed and easily move it, with all the reg keys, to another PC over a lan. It will be alot faster than you trying to dod it manually and quite possibly work better.

So it wont tell you when you install a program, but that part you should able to figure out yourself... right?
Then just use this to move everything, it will have monitored the rege keys for your instal so there you go.
