If I'm getting 0.3 - 0.4 upload speed, would upgrading to 10mbps be higher at all ? I'm considering directional wifi but it's just a bit too expensive. Skype is a nightmare with 4mbps overall it feels just a tad too slow for my needs and I run freelance business which relies on internet and speed does help up to a point

That would be correct, If you upgrade to 10mbps, You will get an upload speed of about 0,6 - 0,9.

A 10mbps line has an upload sync of 1mbps. Should be sufficient for Skype video calling at 480p to 720p.

Hello GhostR,

I have been on the 10mb/s profile for 3 years. In February something changed because I am only synchronising at 8.1mb/s downstream and 630kb/s upstream. My line statistics do support the 10mb/s profile.

What do I have to do to return my profile to 10mb/s.

P.S. I understand that the ASSIA ADSL optimisation system is to blame for the drop in speeds. Is this true?

That would be true, Please send me a pm with your line number so I can assist further.

Hmm I'll try it then, I'm not sure but it seems VDSL requires a whole new modem. Anyone know the costs of upgrading to VDSL from ADSL including 'hidden' costs ?

Shouldn't be any hidden costs. 20Mbps ADSL costs the same as VDSL, VDSL modems are backwards compatible with ADSL just not vice versa. Be sure to swap out filters, same applies as for modems.

EDIT: As in the total cost is the modem, you should get a filter included.
