Looking for competent tech support

Looks like teh virgins are keeping a low profile and trying to stay virgins :D
 
Good luck finding even adequate tech support. Those at the Iworst call centre are so incompetent and rude, it is truly unbelievable. They don't even know their own products. I know more than they do.

Who hires these people? Who?

Thats exactly why I wanted to approach this problem via Shaun. If you have a sound knowledge of how the net and such works you do NOT want to get the first person from helpdesk.

How did you get them to answer the phone in the first place?
I held for 15 minutes then gave up.
 
'Iworst' - kind of apt. It staggers me that as a layman I know more than the help desk insultants do. I was battling to get mail forwarding to work via selfcare (a task easily done many times before) but the insultant said Iburst does not permit relaying. Huh!
But he will continue to insult subscribers irrespective of the feedback we give. In the past I have informed management of so many instances of outrageous ignorance, but they seem to persist in employing the cheapest they can get.
 
Guess I was just lucky, but I did hold for about 8 minutes.

Thing is, all of these 'helpdesks', are horrific. I still have a Sentech NoWire ticket open and I will not close it, even though they don't even offer ISP to the public anymore.

Alas, I chose to go with Iworst, even though I knew beforehand it is rubbish, but in this game you have to choose the best of the garbage, because everything is useless.

Iworst does have a prepaid option, which is the reason I went with them. No bills, debit orders etc. An initial payment of R999 for the modem and then you don't have to give them your bank details. Then, hopefully, you don't have to speak to the 'helpdesk' again, unless you have a tech problem.

Of course, the software on the cd didn't work properly so I had to phone the 'helpdesk'.

The consultant didn't know a single thing about the R999 package. He did not even know that it existed. I had to painstakingly explain his own product to him. He asked questions like 'what did you get in the package?' , 'what kind of modem did you get with it?' etc.

Shocking.

It is working now, I just hope that I never have to deal with them again. The only reason I chose Iworst is the prepaid option. That means no banking details.

Still, its total rubbish.

Stay away from helpdesk, find another entrance.

Gcebile has been awesome so far. The problem isn't solved yet, but she is keeping in touch and still replying to my e-mails.

I think she's ace. When I had that severe tantrum a few months ago, just her approach and telephone manner calmed me down.

Well, she does have big boots to fill while Shaun is not here...glad to see she's stepping up to the plate at least.
