Hi there does anyone know where to by broad beans or fava beans aka boer boon in cape town?

Been looking for them in jhb since early December. The closest I came to finding them was frozen from our local delicatessen. All the usual shops said the importer was out of stock so please let me know if you find them, I'm craving Ful medames.

Even tried Thrupps.

Available at every grocery store in Durban, big or small, incl. Shoprite, Checkers, Spar, PnP etc. It is something we eat regularly. So I'm surprised it's not available in Cpt.

Go and check your closest Checkers for broad beans, they are sure to have.

Ask any porra that has a mother that has a veggie garden.

I fink I saw some in a Food Lovers...so try them. Where all the spices in those sacks are.

Interesting factoid not related to the OP particularly, it nonetheless interesting.

In that scene, there’s a lot more going on that it seems.

Great line from Silence of the Lambs everyone knows. But most people don’t realise Dr Hannibal Lecter is making a medical joke. Lecter could be treated with drugs called monoamine oxidase inhibitors – MAOIs. As a psychiatrist, Lecter knows this. The three things you can’t eat with MAOIs? Liver, beans, wine. Lecter is a) cracking a joke for his own amusement, and b) saying he’s not taking his meds.

Wow. That is very insightful. Are you a film buff or a doc?

I read random **** online, guess that makes me bored and curious about weird trivia. Also I’m part of a quiz team so I have to know random stuff.

I am the same. I know a little about everything, but not a lot about specific things, a.k.a a jack of all trades but a master of none. :X3:

Quiz team sounds interesting, you have a Durban chapter?

Not that I’m aware of, but most likely.

It’s fine by these guys, there are a few on every night in Joburg, just need to find a venue you like.
