looking for local instant messaging service.

When I still had local only account, skype actually worked...Not the voice/video component. File transfer also didn't work.

I use it and MXIT through www.pidgin.im and it works like a charm.

IRC is also an idea!

Off the top of my head.... The wugs host all of their IRC servers locally and there is also EFnet that TENET hosts locally. There are others as well which I can't recall right now.
