Hey guys, So a little background...

My fiancee and I are getting married end of the year, and she (currently in Bloemfontein) will be moving to CT where i am. She has a pekingese to whom she is very attached.
Currently where i stay doesn't allow pets (they did when i moved in, but have since changed the policy).

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or advice on where to find pet friendly places etc, aside from just gumtree/olx etc.
Or if anyone knows of anywhere :P

I'm not really willing to pay more than R4000pm and it needs to be in/around Durbanville/Brackenfell area.

So in short, looking for advice/suggestions :P

i doubt you will find "per friendly" places advertised.
when looking at potential properties (leasing or purchase) have the agent give you the contact details of the trustees of the complex. get a copy of the rules of the complex - this will state as to whether pets are allowed (usually subject to approval of the trustees on a case by case basis).

if pets are allowed and you are going to rent a property, the 1st step is to get permission from the owner of the unit you are going to lease, then add a clause to the lease that it (the lease) is subject to the trustees approving your application to keep a pet.
you want trustee approval / permission before entering into a lease agreement.
dont just take the owners word that pets are allowed, or something like "there are already pets, so it wont be a problem"

also, take the pet with, so the trustees / owner can see the pet is not a doberman to be kept in a 2nd floor apartment.

also, perhaps place an ad yourself: looking for property to rent

Best bet is going to be a granny flat on a private property. Body corporates are getting petty. We all got a letter stating that our dogs cannot bark for more than 5 minutes continuously or more than 15 minutes accumulated all together in an hour. Seriously, its getting lame.

Also contact some complex management agencies in the area and estate agents, they will also be able to help. What Grantza said is important. If you move in a complex without getting the right permissions, you will be forced to remove the dog.

Thanks for the input, I think in the long run the best course would be to save as much as possible now, and then we'll look around come feb/march next year, and if we can find a small place in an appropriate location etc. buy it.

And then if/when we require something larger, rent that place out.

Googleing around i have managed to find some complex/estate rules etc which do list pet info, so thanks for that tip :)
