Hi guys, been looking for some time now for a spice called Ras el hanout. It is a spice used in arab cuisine. Went to Fordsburg even, but without luck. It is easily available in Europe and i found it strange to be so difficult to find it in here. I was bringing always from Europe, but looks like last time did not bring enough or ate more of my favorite dishes :) and now I'm straggling to find. If some one can help, that would be great. Still long time till i go back for more :(

Straggle no more, heed Abu's advice and check Woolies. That's where I've sourced it before :D

Hope you have better luck than we had looking for sriracha

Never heard of it, but not big on thai. What i don't understand is why so many things that are widely available everywhere around the world are so difficult/impossible to be found here. What the hell is wrong with this country's chain of supply. In any case good luck in your search.

Thanks, that second link looks promising. Will give it a try tomorrow. My local WW did not have or heard about the spice. Was told to try Eastgate. In any case would not trust WW or Unilever for that matter to make a proper Ras el Hanout. The second guys look much more to what i'm after. Thanks again Ponder.

O man, just now saw they are in CT. This is really disappointing. Will see what they got to say tomorrow.

At a closer look, this guys are bringing one of my favorite brands. Dilmah, Ortalli, Ocean Spray. Let's hope the spices will be the same high quality. Thanks Ponder again for pointing me to their site.
Also they got Baharat. Very very nice spice for middle east dishes. You must try it guys if you have not. I have not seen Baharat before in SA. Very nice.

I have previously bought this from the Moroccan shop in the Lifestyle Nursery shopping complex in Malibongwe Drive. It is a Moroccan/Middle Eastern spice. I mostly use it to spice my chicken and pork meats before grilling or braaing. Also used in Tandoori cooking. Delicious!

Thanks Ponder, will try tomorrow.

Spoke to those guys, they don't sell to the public. So disappointed, Ponder do you know by any chance someone in the company or if there is a way of ordering through them as a single buyer that wants single quantities not in bulk. Thanks man.

Woolworths have http://www.woolworths.co.za/store/f...uct-details-index.jsp?productId=6009171929695 which is essentially it (no idea how authentic).

I also bought some recently here, but I'm not sure if that they stock it anywhere in Jhb, and the store's website is down so can't check for you. Got: http://i62.tinypic.com/20u1pts.jpg. Again, no idea if authentic.

Thanks AvatarS, but I'm looking for more authentic stuff. I'm really trying to get hold of some of the stuff this guys are selling. Would like to get that Baharat as well. So pity, they don't sell to the public and I can not find their stuff in the shops. Spoke to my local PnP and asked them to buy some stuff for me. The manager promised to give me a call, but have not heard anything from him since then. What is a point of importing stuff, but you don't want to sell it. And non of the shops has it as well.
