Looking for Republican Party apologetics

Did the United States grow more unequal while Republicans were in power? It sounds crude, but Princeton political scientist Larry Bartels has gone a long way toward proving it. Bartels looked up income growth rates for families at various income percentiles for the years 1948 to 2005, then cross-checked these with whether the president was a Republican or a Democrat. He found two distinct and opposite trends. Under Democrats, the biggest income gains were for people in the bottom 20th income percentile (2.6 percent). The income gains grew progressively smaller further up the income scale (2.5 percent for the 40th and 60th percentiles, 2.4 percent for the 80th percentile, and so on). But under Republicans, the biggest income gains were for people in the 95th percentile (1.9 percent).

...and Al Jazeera (they cover stories in crappy 3rd world countries more in depth than the larger broadcasters) as well.

I’ve got a crush on Teresa Bo. Her beat is South America (it is not a wussie assignment). She gets her hands dirty and she’s got balls. And she’s cute.

Understand his point but to me its wrong. Wealthier people need to be taxed more. End.

Why?

You are saying the US cannot afford to have tax breaks across all the classes. Sure, if you want the government to provide tons of things to people, such as social security, healthcare, wars etc. etc. you need money.

What I am saying is that we are better off if all these things were left in private hands. If that is done, the government doesn't need all that money and you can have the tax cuts.

The question is should the state be providing all these things or not?

The other simple fact is that the rich are the ones able to provide the most investment, they invest more than they consume (As opposed to people with lower incomes) , they are the ones accumulating capital which helps future generations increase productivity and helps to raise living standards. The state squanders the money a lot...I would rather have money in the hands of the people, be they rich or poor than the state.
