Good Morning

I have a client who asked me to have a look at one of his websites it is some custom work on sympony now I have no clue and was wondering if somebody here might have knowledge on this here thing.

Version? I haven't played around with it in years. The documentation is also quite well written on symfony's website

Some old version site was active last in 2009

Problem is 2 previous people customized it and then disappeared so I have no clue

this is his last correspondence - Simply stated, the concept is that a customer (once signed up and paid) can create his own coupon offer via the system - and then can change it anytime he wants via his login. There is also facility to upload a graphic
"advertisement" (such as business card) to his account which displays with the coupon.

I started the concept 5 years ago ... but unfortunately ran into big problems with the custom developer and the project became a jumble of "band-aids". Finally, I just quit dealing with him and now have a "family friend" that has been working on it for more than a year - with no progress.

now i am having a look at http://www.opendealsapp.com/ to see if it will allow individual clients to register and then create own coupons etc in case his sympony thing is to much work or if anybody has any other preferably open source system that could do the above

It's perhaps best to start fresh since a project going on for over 5 years with no progress seems like a dead end to me. If you don't come right with opendealsapp, pop me a PM and I will have a look at the code and requirements. Will then let you know if it would be worth the time and effort for both parties.

I've done (read played with) symfony before. I absolutely believe that it is an awesome PHP framework. The documentation is really good.

The other php frameworks I've used is Zend and Yii. I did 2 projects in Zend (CRM sales system and an intranet system) and found that it was a decent framework. However, the documentation is very thin. Also, since the architecture is very component based, you end up writing a lot of code yourself to implement some features. I played with Yii and that seemed like a cool framework.
