Hi all,

I am looking to buy a chameleon in gauteng. I have no idea where to go, and have found nothing on gumtree or OLX.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There was a thread about this a month ago. You will not find it on the web, because it is illegal to sell. Also , they will not fit in a city.

Contact Arno Naude on Facebook.

A friend of mine in the Eastern Cape sells Panther Chameleons. They are about 3000 each. Im busy waiting for the next clutch of eggs as Im on a waiting list to get some as well. This is one of the parents:

You do know whats required to care for them right? Like what type of habitat and how to get them to drink water?

Some are illegal, some are not illegal. You can buy foreign chameleons like panther chameleons. They fit fine in the city if you give them the right habitat. Though releasing these into your garden will get you arrested :D

Go to China town and ask for colour lizard.

There will be several reptile and exotic pet expos coming up in the next few months. You will find many amazing animals available and legal in the pet trade there including chameleons.
The biggest being:

Looked for it, couldn't find it. Indigenous chameleons require permits, so yes, those are illegal to sell (without permits). Chameleons not indigenous to south africa are legal to sell.

Yeah, got the heat lamp, UVB 5.0 lamp, got the vines, misting system, Calcium D3+ and vitamin supplements, mealworms, gut loaded crickets, cage with PROPER ventilation... its quite a tricky animal to take care of... dayuuuum

I have about 5 of these in my yard, you are welcome to come along and fetch a few.

Extravagant Pets at Brightwater sells them - I got one a few months ago, and last time I went to get crickets, they still had stock.

Veiled chameleons, which are legal to sell and keep as pets.

Good luck with your little guy!
