Hi guys,

I am looking at buying an entry level notebook soon. Nothing too fancy, just for browsing, emails and general office work. Any suggestions?

Thanks
mj

Makro! It's the easiest to browse TEST and they've got pretty good after sales support. Plus you can go directly to Fujitsu Seimans, they have support centres in SA.

Try the Acer range, top notch performers and cheap as chips

[Personal opinion]
Stay away from Fujitsu Siemens machines. We are having endless problems with the two we have in the office.
[/Personal opinion]
I have been using Compaq/HP for the last 8 years, without any problems, and I also like the Acer range

Sorry MJ, a bit off topic.
I am looking at maybe getting a PowerBook or something like that.
What WON'T I be able to do that I currently do on my HP with WinXP/linux?

Lots! But it depends on what you use the HP for... You can however install Linux on the Apple...

Price Range your looking at ?

Something between R5K to R6K. My BF is driving me nuts, he keeps bugging me to use my PC so I want to get him something to browse on and to get me mobile.

Standard PC rule : Buy as much as you can. ( if you don't in 6 months you will regret it, particuarly with laptops as PCs advance so quickly and laptops are difficult to upgrade)!
