Was wondering if I could get some advice from you helpful folk.

I am starting University next year and will be staying in res and want to leave my PC at home and get a gaming notebook.

After some research into the prices in the local market I have chosen two models, both in the price range I can afford but am not sure which one to get.

ASUS G501 or MSI GS60 ?

Will you consider Gigabyte or Aorus ? They pretty good too.

For 15.6" , you can check
Aorus X5
Gigabyte P55 or P35.

Hey I'd be happy to offer advice on the GS60 Ghost Pro, in my opinion that laptop is really the sweet spot for a gaming and work notebook. The 3k Ghost Pro has great reviews. I spent some hands-on time with one recently and it's a very impressive feeling piece of equipment.

I am pretty biased, but if you are looking at an Asus model, the G501 has some quite lukewarm reviews: http://www.digitaltrends.com/laptop-reviews/asus-rog-g501-review/

Like I say, if you want some specific recommendations of local deals on the GS60 and the various SKUs that are around I can help with that.

i would go for AORUS X5 , no 2nd thought.

15" Nvidia GTX965 SLI with video memory 4G * 2

Got a MSI GT80 2QE TITAN with some upgrades - great machine! First MSI, and must say might be a fan now! :)

First person I ever met to have bought the GT80. That's a serious chunk to lay out but what a machine :D

Yea wow GT 80 is way out of my price range. Thanks for the feedback Cerebus, am personally leaning towards the MSI GS 60, really like the Steelseries Keyboard.

I got the MSI GT60 2PE off Amazon. What a beautiful machine!

Hi, I will like to offer you advice of Gigabyte P55Wv4, price is definitely something you can look into.
Starts from R$20999.

Goddamn, that's a pricey laptop. R$20999 is about 70,000 rand.

what budget are u looking for?
THere is a student laptop initiative that most universities are part of and which they advertise on campuses. google studentlaptop initiative, they offer lenovo and acer laptops and tablets and some samsung tabs
I got mine from http://lenovo.studenttech.co.za/initiative/ because i like lenovo more than acer
they have a lenovo z5070 at the moment as their top tier laptop for +-R11000 with the following specs
Audio Stereo speakers with Dolby® Home Theater®
Battery **Up to 5 hours with standard battery
Display 15.6" HD (1366 x 768)
Graphics Adaptor Nvidia GeForce GT820M 2GB
Hard Drive 1TB HDD 9.5mm
Memory 6GB DDR3 (2 Dimms)
Operating system Win 7 / 8 Pro loaded as per Campus agreement with Valid Student Number
Processor Intel Core i7-4510U
Webcam HD 720p camera (1M pixel)
Weight Starting at 2.5kg (5.5 lbs)

its not gonna be able to game on ultra at 60fps, but will get the job done

Hey Kazeus, thanks but am looking for 940m a minimum spec. I can afford around 24k. Have placed my order for the MSI. Pics and feedback to follow.

Like a small car. :) Using it 8-15 hours a day so might as well do it with a monster, doesn't hurt to be able to play a quick match of ANY game in between! :)
