Looking to rent local dedicated server

Business in SA should really be good if you are just willing to get off your rocker :mad: I'm trying to get a number of quotations for a dedicated server with the following specs:
  1. Must be hosted in a data centre in Joburg
  2. Need 250GB to start off with, expandable to 1TB+
  3. Must have access to server at datacentre in order to store/retrieve large amounts of data
  4. Must have a secure backup option
  5. Linux with cPanel, Plesk or similar

I contacted some of the big players, Datapro, Mweb, Verizon and IS - so far absolutely no response. Left messages, filled in online forms - so much for big players that doesn't want to play :sick: I also contacted some of the smaller guys that's been in the market for some time and proved to be stable. Hetzner is not interested in changing their standard configuration, Gamco sent me a quote but did not answer any of my questions, still waiting for RSAWeb to respond. The only star in the dark expanse thus far is Afrihost. They responded very quickly to my enquiry, had no problem customising an offering, and they are hosting at the IS data centre. Like a friend said, these guys are just not hungry :( What are your experiences with dedicated hosting and any suggestions?
 
IS is expensive, Datapro is very accomodating.

It's sounds as if you want to host your own server, so why not just buy one and slot it into one of their cabinets? If you want to use their servers you have to play by their rules.
 
@Deenem and RavenServers: IMO purchasing your own server does not make sense. With leasing you don't have a care in the world about hardware, also the smaller guys work on a 1 month notice period, so the initial layout is not that high. Then there is not much difference in price between co-location and leasing afaik. BTW, Datapro wants us to sign a 2 year lease contract, me thinks not!

@andres101: Read the article somewhere, but like most of Neotel's offerings it remains a mystery as to what the facility offers :-O

Another quote won't do any harm, btw, I eventually managed to get three quotations: Mweb: R10 000 pm, Datapro: R7 000 pm, AfriHost: R1 400 pm for basically the same configuration :rolleyes:
