Looking to study again (IT related)

likely receive credits for it, be sure of the process etc etc

hardware, if you can build lego you'll good. you may find san work rewarding ??? but it's a short lived thing. i guess i'm just bored with it all

dev is not a stagnant field - lots of different challenges and you can branch out into different languages / platforms. long hours and customers usualy deviate from agreed spec...often
 
Thanks a lot. I've emailed UNISA now to enquire what the process is for applying for credits.
 
This will probably make you sad, but you'd have an easier time going to a campus and asking them there. Since they dropped their call centre a few years ago, communication with them is a royal pain. It can take months to get a reply, weeks if you are lucky.

I'm based in PE so essentially UNISA here is just an admin office. They were also worse than useless when my wife had queries earlier this year related to her studies. I'm dreading going there
 
On the topic of UNISA courses and math, I'm doing BSc computer science at UNISA and it does have a few math modules that are compulsory, from the top of my head, you need to do algebra and calculus modules. If anyone is interested in pursuing that study track I can look up the rest of the modules as well, don't have them handy at the moment.

Please list them, I'd be interested to see what they are exactly.
 
Update: Made application to study BSC Informatics. I want to attempt to get a head start before the academic year begins in 2019. Do you guys have any recommendations for reading material until I can get an actual list of the recommended textbooks?
