Looking to upgrade my router but not sure what to take, I have the Telkom Dlink standard router and mostly use it for streaming, browsing and a odd download now and again.

What would you guys suggest is a good router as I don't want to overkill. :erm:

Hi guys, is there really much difference between a 802.11n router and the 802.11ac?

How can I check which devices work for AC?

Well the dongles are very expensive and very few devices work on ac at the moment. You probably just have to look at the specs of your device.

My next router will be ac, but that's really just future proofing. I stream on 802.11n just fine for now, but a dual band ac router will be great :)

Why change it ? Have mine since the Rinderpest and not a minutes problems ever.

Excellent! I have a 802.11n router but not sure if it's dual band. It's quite old so I assume it's not dual band. Thanks for the advice

IMO any router is better than the ones you get from Telkom with their bloated software. I have those netgear N300 kept in the storeroom some are still sealed. I got the Archer D50 which supports 802.11ac. 802.11ac is cool if you within a close range of the router, I tested the speed by streaming a 4K movie to my GalaxyS6 and it was awesome. As you more away the range drops drastically so I normally switch from 802.11ac to 802.11n dependent were I am in the house.
