Loot supplied product problems

I ordered a scanner just before Xmas, from loot.co.za, which was delivered just after Xmas and which failed to work. I then asked Loot to uplift the product and to refund me as I was not prepared to wait for another product which could also be faulty. They uplifted within 24 hours and about 10 days later I received a message stating that the item was being sent for testing to their supplier.

After three weeks of no update I contacted them to find out was was happening with my refund. I was "questioned", the gist of this questioning being that I had returned a product which they had no serial number record of and that their supplier was claiming they did not supply the product. The insinuation was that I may have erred by returning another product similar to the one I had ordered from them and made a "mistake".

The issue has now stalled where they are attempting to find out who supplied the product and refuse to acknowledge the product as having been supplied by them. In the meantime I am out of pocket, have no scanner, and they are claiming that the product they sent me was not supplied to them.

Has anyone had a similar issue with Loot before?

Can they send you proof that the item is not what they sold to you? Like visible proof?

I've now stopped talking to their call centre. Next step is the CEO (or his designated underling). We shall see if they want to persist with this line of reasoning which implies I am perhaps dishonest. Whatever happens they have lost a customer for good.

Can confirm, bought a Powersave Amiibo for 3DS. What I received was the Powersave for games and not Amiibo.
I was lucky to receive a refund however.

Almost two months later and I have now finally received a refund. Needless to say I will not be purchasing from Loot again. I have never before been treated as the potential problem when a supplier delivers a faulty product. This is a first!
