im having the same problem as well altho it seems to have come right in the last hour or so.

Billion router lights start flickering, ppoe light goes off, ADSL light goes off and nothing for a few minutes. Then it all works again then not , then, then not, then, then no....you get the picture..

I have only had ADSL for about a week now so im not clued up on errors and the like.

It is raining in Durbs so maybe that has somethimg to do with it?

I had that when i first got my ADSL line... Something to do with my line at their head office computers saying i had ISDN still and not ADSL or something like that and was getting disconnected every 10 or so min.

But don't think thats what is happening to u.

same thing in dbn, went back to incerdible corruption with my belkin wireless router, they gave me a new one. it doesnt disconnect anymore, but somehow i feel its slowly coming back.

did telkoms(taxpayers) last mile connection destroy my router?

Last night (25th) I lost conn completely at about 9pm. My whole phone line died as well so no dial tone either

I phoned to reported it, Got some women who was really arrogant.. and ended up putting the phone down on me when I told her I was reporting my telephone line was down.. NOT my ADSL.

Well a few calls later and finally a supervisor on the line, I got promised a call back in 10 min to sort it out.. 2 hours later.. I lost it. Phoned back, got hold of some techie/phone support person, who told me he knew about my call as he had handled it and that I was DAMN lucky (his words) that he had even bothered to get my line checked since there are people waiting for almost 2 days for a check. He told me that the other supervisor had NO authority to make promises for his division, and anything I was promised by another division.. didn't count. His supervisor (who he said I could speak to at ANYTIME I wanted) was also not available.

He also went as far as to tell me that he wished my line was sorted out, since then I would be the one and ONLY happy customer in the WHOLE of Gauteng. I asked him to please repeat that.. twice.. At this point I burst out laughing at him and wished him and telkom good luck.

Unfortunatly I had woken up my Fiance since it was now 12 am, and she insisted I report him to a supervisor.. Which I did, but none the less, My line was suddenly up and running at 8:45 this morning, even after he told me that there was a break in my line, and I was looking at +/- 5 days to get a tech out.

Since then, it wont stay synced for more than 20 min.. Oh yeah.. I'm still waiting for my call back. I did try to phone them today to let them know, but I put the phone down after 48 min of holding....

Looks like I'm back to where I started last summer..

Kalvaer...I'm in Douglasdale and am having the exact same problem, no dial tone, and keeps losing sync...logged a call and have not heard a peep from Telkom

I had a sync problem about a year ago, first a lady rocked up with a laptop and connected it to my line and told me she was fine.

Then i got a call from someone in Telkom saying the problem was still there and they could see it from there side. I was loosing sync every 2 hours or 15 minutes varied.

Well the sixth guy thay pitched up found that one of my wires was earthed somewhere in the exchange or box somewhere, took him 15 minutes to find the fault including travelling to the box and back. He will not be promoted any further in the future due to New South Africa Telkom policies.

I get my Telkom account today.. and guess what.. during the time my line was dead (9pm to 8:45 am) R300.00's worth of international calls were made on my line.. How do I phone when I dont have a working line ? and WTF would I spend an hour on the phone speaking to somebody in Pakistan, 15 min to somebody in Ethiopia, 25 min to somebody in Burundi and 5 min to somebody in Tanzania????
