There were problems with the SMTP server this morning. This itself doesn't bother me that much, these things happen, but what really bothers me is that it seems that several e-mails I sent +/- between 11:10 and 12 just never went out (I had some really important e-mails so I BCC'd all to myself to check). This is incredibly pathetic, absolutely just not good enough - this should NEVER happen. Now I have to look unprofessional and resend important business-related e-mails I sent to clients this morning as they might just not have arrived.

If you sent e-mail this morning after around 11:10 this morning you probably need to resend it.

The absolute LAST thing a "[mobile] business user" (that Sentech claims is a main target market for MyWireless) is an ISP whose careless attitude to SMTP server maintenance allows for deleting e-mail out the Q. And they don't even bother to put a notice on their message board to at least inform their customers!

This is support's response:

"I can assure you that no emails were deleted from the mail
Q at any time. There are however severe delays that are
effecting the mail Q due to the mails spooling while the
smtp server was offline earlier today. This will result in
several hours before your recipients receive their emails."

I'm not sure I believe this, as e-mails I sent just now went through practically immediately, but we will see I guess, I'll wait a few more hours. A greater than five-hour delay in sending out maybe a couple of hours downtime worth of e-mail?

My call to support (Tristan) went like this:
There seems to be an issue with Telkomsa.net and Sentech re the mail. Both claim that their own side is working and the fault thererfore must be with the other side. At the time that I called the issue seemed to have been going for a week and a half. (going 2 weeks now) They have an internal invetigation going.

Another issue I've had is with Telkomsa.net mail where it gets rejected due to a "*.jpg virus" As far as I know it's an exploit and only affects XP machines (with SP1 *I think) All updated anti-virus should pick it up. My network is clean as well as 2 others I checked, but still the mail returns....
