"Lost" prototype... really?

Do you think that the "lost" prototype was in fact part of a marketing exercise? It seems a bit odd that an iPhone prototype would randomly end up in a bar.

Apple is known for their clever marketing methods.
 
For sure a marketing plot. They are so sharp, without spending a $, everybody talking about the new Iphone
 
That's why the oke was not immediately fired, as were all previous slip of the tongue Apple employees.

They can't pull the same stunt again though...

I think it was genuinely lost (or possibly stolen) from him. It seems that he had the phone with him as part of field trials (they can't just test them on the Apple campus) - and that is why he was not fired.

I don't believe that it was an Apple stunt. It's not their style of doing things, and certainly not so long before the actual release.
