This is an odd question....

I have friends with a largish guest house. They have wi-fi access for the guests and have 2 routers to accomplish this. The hassle is the "IT" guy that set it all up for them did not secure the wireless, so every neighbor around them is going mad on the downloads. The first router is in the main office which i got into and secured last night, however, the second router is nowhere to be found. It is present as with a laptop I can log onto the wireless no problem (with no password at all!!!!) but i can not get into the router interface and i can not physically find the router itself so i can reset it.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to track down an errant router? I tried calling the guy who set it up but to no avail. He's about as helpful as a bicycle to a fish.

And no, I wont give the address to guys for free downloads!!!!! ;)

Surely the wireless rounter still has a connection to the gateway ?
How does the network connect to the internet?

There has to be a power lead - find the strongest signal strength, then start looking for the source of power!

It does, but when u try log on with the gateway address it brings up a hotel voucher billing program. Once u log onto that it wont let u get into the router interface, it just returns u to the Hotel interface.
I just need to find the damn thing and reset or remove it totally.

Grumpy, you are a plonker!

Nuff said.

(was this why Rami called me yesterday?)

No, he wants to sell a router.

Lol, i wish it were that easy!!! The whole place is wireless. We've gone thru all the rooms, checked all the phone jacks. Sigh, I have a horrible feeling i'm going to have to crawl around in a roof soon.... And shut up Datura, I'm not too fat for that!!!! :p

There are a bunch of repeater's as well. Its just a frikken pain.
