Milltek Sport adds a new aural option for Lotus’ combustion-engined swansong
Good news! For anyone dissatisfied with the sound of the Lotus Emira and its supercharged 3.5-litre V6, Milltek Sport has developed an aftermarket exhaust which it claims improves on the standard system in terms of weight, aesthetics, sound and performance.
Their words not ours, so let’s dig a little deeper. Crafted from aircraft-grade stainless steel and utilising the original exhaust mounts, the cat-back system comprises freer-flowing three-inch pipework and 2.5-inch outlet pipes, saving 1kg over the stock exhaust.
If you want even more noise an optional bypass pipe is also available, which works in conjunction with Milltek’s valve control system to bypass the rear silencer completely, and saves an additional 1.7kg. Worth noting, however, that while the Emira is fully trackday compliant with the silencer fitted, with the bypass pipe fitted and valves open the system may breach the noise regulations of certain UK circuits.

The brand's last internal combustion model offers an epic drive and a pleasant cabin.
That the Emira is good isn’t much of a surprise, but it feels great to no longer have to make excuses for loving a Lotus. It just works. And though this car marks the end of an era as the company’s last internal combustion-powered car, at least Lotus is going out on a very high note.
