I live 500m away from my telkom exchange. I have recently upgraded to a 6 Mbps data package and my line hasn't been syncing well. My attenuation is fine but noise margin is 6 db down and up. How can I make my line more stable? Can I increase my noise margin in any way?

If you have good attenuation, you could try replacing the pots filter on your line. Or even reporting a fault and having Telkom send a technician to check things out. A few years ago a Telkom technician replaced half the phone line on my property, and it totally sorted out my connection issues.

I am totally confused now! I checked again recently and my noise margin was 15.9 db down and 8.1 db up. Why is it so jumpy?
