Hey guys

Im looking for a decent (no replacing needed for the next +-3 years) low-profile graphics card for my htpc. Budget is about R1000. Any comments or ideas please? So far the only decent ones i found is old cards like the ati hd 5000 series. Would prefer the new 6000 series. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm not so sure about how quick HTPC graphics will upgrade, but correct me if I'm wrong don't you mainly need HD support (1080p HDCP compliant) with HDMi / HDTV / HDMi TV-out and surround sound support?

How about something like the Sapphire HD6570 for R730?
You can even bump it up to this HD6570 for R922
Or you can go for this HD6670 for R860 and this one for R990

Those are the ones with what I'd say you need and even some light gaming.

This is though that it depends on what you'll be using it for.. There's also ones with ultimate silent heatsink etc.. All depends on if it'll be purely HTPC or not.

Why do you want such an expensive/mid-range graphics card for an HTPC?

If you have a reasonable new motherboard, then the onboard graphics should suffice for even 1080p content.
