Any idea where I can get a bunch of low profile PCI brackets made of some nice easily machinable metal?

Hmm, I guess I just answered my own question, I'll get some thin aluminium in strips, and just drill/dremel holes as needed for my custom low profile PC.

Its amazing how many cards you buy have low profile PCBs, but the bracket itself is full size.

Its a pity this stuff isn't more standardized, like you could just pick up a packet of low profile brackets with standardized holes and mounting points.

It would be quite easy to take the full size bracket off the low profile PCB, bend it over at the correct height then trim off the excess, then add the hold-down hole for the screw.

You can do that or you can buy the brackets ready made.

I know my one supplier sells them. Not sure of the price as it's been about a year since I last sold one(not a big demand for that). Can confirm the price if needed.

I did a project a few years back where I was looking for the standard blank ones and I remember battling to find them. I imported a couple of hundred myself, and they didn't turn out that cheap, factoring in the freight.

it's the freight but depending on when you did it, the duties have been dropped quite a lot on PC stuff, which that should fall under.

(somewhere there's a recent thread on someone importing clothing & taxes being over 50% of the value of the items. If pc stuff suffered the same duties historically then yes it could have worked out expensive)

only problem is then theres no way back!

Anyone know where I can get a low profile bracket for an NVidia GT520?
