Those sites are blocked from work but I'm assuming it's the Nagle Algorithm fix which is very old news and has been bandied about quite a lot on these forums.
 
Hasn't the Nagle algorithm problem been sorted in the new patch? I heard the fix might not be as effective as hoped. Should you still go ahead with the registry changes?
 
The patch on the thread I posted 19th December did wonders for my latency... after I installed the patch it went down to the low 300's and since then I haven't noticed any change after the official WoW patch.

If your latency still sucks really bad, give it a go, there is a uninstall file as well. But I am pretty sure the patch sorted the change out already.

Things to keep in mind, you still need a unshaped ADSL account to see the full benefit, and also we are still in SA and we will never go in the 100's. So dont expect 500 MS shaved off ! :)

With the recent WoW patch I have been sitting in the yellow quite often. Though my latency on occasion drops to ~800ms-~900ms, let me see what this patch does though.
 
They're related.
Apparently the Patch Fix wasn't 100% successful and so implementing the Reg fix still drops latency slightly.

My ping was usually between 350 and 450 so I didn't expect much. I tried this anyway and now my ping is between 200 and 350 :)
 
great reduced with 200ms, but if you use rasspppoe - i see where you do the TcpAckFrequency dword, you should first connect with your rasspppoe connection and then open regedit and then you can see the dailed connection as an interface with its ip and everything otherwise it just shows your 'normal' nick's ip...
 
Just out of curiosity... has anyone seen pings lower than 200ms during normal gameplay? Lowest I have seen so far is 217 while questing in Ashenvale.

yes, it used to be constant 180ms a real while back then something happened and we had to get use to 200-300ms, and then end of last year 400-500ms and so on.

Is there maybe anyway to increase your ping rating when you're using 3G HSDPA?
 
There are a couple of things you can try, but none of them are really effective. I've personally given up on playing until I get a fixed line again. The major problem with 3G/HSDPA is that you already start off with a disadvantage because it is a wireless service.

Fixed line connections offer the best latency because there is very little interference with the signal. With a wireless service everything has an effect, wind, rain, buildings...when I last did a tracert on 3G my first hop(from my phone to the tower) had a latency of 200ms and there isn't much I can do to reduce that. Then you need to add in the "breathing" that the towers do as well, the more people using a tower the smaller the area of its reception and the weaker the over all signal...I was happy when I could play with a 800ms ping but in the end it just got much to frustrating...

Cool, was getting tired of switching between router and modem mode when ever I wanted to play wow.
