Who still listens to these? I recently started and I must say they sound really nice. Nicer than CD's of the same music. They just have a far fuller sound, especially classical music.

If anyone has any records they are not wanting I will gladly take them! Particularly 20's music I am looking for.

No selfrespected vinyl fundi will ever sold his/her soul. :)

I still have lots of milkcrates full of them vinyls.

Edit:What's 20's music?For 20y olds or music from 1920's:confused:

Was also wondering whether I was reading correctly - read the OP 3 times!!! Too much wine at lunch time?

I have 60's, 70's and 80's music on LP. Framed some of my favourites....

I still buy plenty of records on a monthly basis. Have a collection of about 1000 records. They take up too much room and keeping them in some kind of order is an absolute nightmare. But I still love the warmer sound reproduction and the feel of playing on vinyl...

Records sound amazing, not many digital sources can actually compete!

I had a Marantz CD17 MKII which had a warmer, richer sound than many CDs players and I know there are are a few R40k+ players that offer a similar experience - but not too vinyl standards.

I actually had a few SACDs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Audio_CD which are also digital, but attempt to make it sound more analogue. Sampling rate is 2822khz with a 120db dynamic range.

Unfortunatley, the format never really took off.

That's a completely different method. Were they really trying to get it to sound analogue (whatever that means)?

It's basically a high resolution, high quality 'CD' - it IS a different method (need a SACD player etc) - but the point of it was to get rid of the cold, clinical and sharp digital sound found on most CD's.

Is that what you meant by a different method?

Ja, also prefer vinyl.

Many people simply believe that because it is new and it is digital it must be better, same goes for cameras. Digital I will say is more convenient for sure.

I have started collecting again. Have 333 records. Need to pick up another 200 (All 60's and 70's rock) as soon as I can get to Hermanus again. There used to be a lot of Vinyl sales on Gumtree but I haven't checked there for a while now.
