LTE Coverage in Ballito/Salt Rock

Does anyone know whether or not there is LTE coverage in the Ballito/Salt Rock area?

I couldn't get a Telkom landline installed but I managed to find a place in my flat where I get full 3G signal. My down speeds fluctuate between 4 and 8 mbps and 1 and 2 mbps up. I cannot stream Netflix/Hulu at all on my Samsung Smart TV. It works for a couple seconds and then re-buffers.

Would it make a difference changing from the free mifi device that I got from Afrihost to the LTE device they are now selling? I don't have any way of checking whether I have LTE coverage at home. I can't go according to the map as the map says I am not covered for 3G but I get full 3G signal.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Yes I'm pretty sure there is. I stopped at Ballito lifestyle centre on my way back from Durban and got pretty impressive speeds of well over 30Mbps.... The speed will depend how good coverage you got but anything higher than 2 bars will be good.

That big tower right agross Ballito next to the N2. Yeah depending on how close you are to it its is BLAZING fast. I managed 1 speedtest on it that was 48Mbps download and 11Mbps upload

Cool, that is so awesome. Now what do you think the probability is of me being able to pick up that signal if I can get full 3G signal in one place in my flat? It's a pity, I really don't want to commit to paying the LTE device off for 12 months if I get no LTE signal. Is the wifi coverage on the LTE device better than the 3G device?

I'm sure how you going to test it due to MTN's stick LTE conditions where you NEED to have a 128k sim and you MUST be on contract even if its a top up 50.

I'm lucky to have a Top Up 100 with a 128k sim and a iphone 5 so I can test LTE but if you don't have those then its hard to know cause the coverage map is GROSSLY outdated....

Richards bay is not even supposed to have LTE according to the coverage map but I get LTE all over here in Richards Bay so yeah don't trust that coverage map

I think the Ariel isn’t pointed properly at the tower.

You mentioned that there is a big tower across from Ballito next to the N2. Could you please be a bit more specific about its location because I can’t seam to find it. I'm hoping that it will make all the difference needed.

Are you trying to connect on a Telkom Mobile package or on an Afrihost package using a Telkom LTE router?
