Morning all,
Currently using a Standard Bank Mobile LTE Router with data SIM since 2022 for a remote home - I think they use the MTN network. There seems to be ongoing SMS spam received on the data card, up to 10 different messages a day, so is there a way to block them all. The spam seems to have 2 different people's names referenced, so unsure if the underlying SIM card number is just recycled from previous users? Examples:

F Semane, 1Life is standing by, ready to call you to discuss your life cover options
Reply Yes (Free)
InsFSP T&C online. No=out. A1

and

SANLAM Legacy: Fundiswa, get a FREE Will with Sanlam Legacy. Don't wait, act now!
Reply YES (Free) for more
No=Out.FSP2759. Olico. T&Cs

Unable to send an opt-out SMS from the router SMS function page (fails; assuming a data card only) and the SIM card blocks if placed in a phone to trey and opt out on received messages, so have to re-activate it in the router.

Or do I simply continue ignoring them - just irritating with the sheer number of SMS messages received on this card...

My LTE router SMS's think I am Mrs. Heyns. It tells me when it is time to service my hyndai at some authorised dealer in Somerset west, that my retirement is activated and that my TV licence is in arrears. Recycled numbers are fun.

My wife's MTN number received calls from debt collectors. The number previously belonged to a lady in Mpumalanga who owed all over the place. 10 days of this and she disposed of the SIM card

(Not LTE but close)

Just ignore it.

If your router has it, delete the SMS message center number and see if it stops the SMS' altogether.
