LTE external antenna rig troubleshooting.

Hi All

So in trying to boost my down and upload speeds, I though I would try my LTE router (B2000) and maybe put up a test antenna rig to see if i could increase the above.

Current setup:
- Telkom Mobile
- Router (B2000)
- Internal antenna (4/5 bars signal)
- Bedfordview, JHB

Speedtest: Ping 18; +- 10 Meg up and down. (I know its not bad, but I would like to see if i could improve.)

Testing out my makeshift antenna:
- YA-0828-02 antenna x2
- 45 degree setup (from what i picked up this setup is popular)
- Polarization marks both pointing to the sky.

Best speedtest i have got so far: Ping 25, +- 5.5 meg up and download.

Questions i have: (Sorry they are a lot...
- Is it possible Telkom is not going to let me run higher than 10Meg and im just wasting my time?
- Do the polarization marks on the antenna have to be set differently? They both pointing up as in the picture.
- Do the antenna have to be plugged into the router in an order as they are on the roof mast?
- Is there a easy way to find out where to point the antenna? Like where the closest Telkom tower is?
- Are my antenna even working, or operate on the spectum I'm trying to improve on?

It's strange that no one has replied to your thread yet.

Anyway, I might have some of the answers, but not all of them:

1. Highly unlikely. It might be that your tower is congested.
2. Don't know.
3. No, but I know on some routers you can config the router to use external antennae only.

There is a post somewhere with "tower locations" for google earth in there somewhere.
5. I know most people are using other antenna's, but I see no reason for yours not to work. Again, I might be wrong.
