LTE in Cape Town

So I've spoken with MTN support twice now, both times they told me they activated LTE on my sim. I've travelled with my iPhone 5 into CPT CBD (Gardens Virgin Active) - which according to their LTE coverage map should have coverage - at the very least on my way there it should've gone to LTE; but nothing.

Can anyone confirm where they get LTE in CPT?

I know what your problem is.... Did you port to MTN prepaid and then upgraded it to MTN top up while keeping the same simcard?

If yes that means you need a new LTE simcard and will need to do a sim swap. You need a 128k LTE simcard for it to work. The must show on the sim 3G or LTE or LTE will not work.

Yeah they are all 64k. MTN has added this restriction to prevent prepaid customers from using their LTE network. Don't know why but yeah it sucks. So get yourself a 128k LTE simcard and you will be sorted. Then you will see how much LTE there actually is. MTN coverage map is very out dated so you will get LTE in places where it does not even show on the map.
